Ben

Released - 1972
Genre - Horror, Thriller
Director - Phil Karlson
Starring - Lee Montgomery, Meredith Baxter, Rosemary Murphy, Joseph Campanella

This is a seriously odd 70's movie about a young boy who befriends a rat named Ben. He isn't just any rat though, he's actually the leader of the rats and he orchestrates various attacks on the population of an unsuspecting small town. Ben is the sequel to a film called Willard about a man who trains rats to attack people. It is supposed to be a horror film but the "horror" consists of a few scenes where rats are thrown onto bad actors and they flail around and lie down. This film is most famous for the syrupy theme song sung by Michael Jackson and at times it feels like a romance about a young boy and his pet rat. The film is just weird from beginning to end, from the silent gawping locals to the kids puppet show this is a car wreck of a b-movie.

Gore - none at all

Monster - plain old rats with an intelligent leader rat
