In a post-apocalyptic future a scavenging nomad finds the remains of a robot in the desert and takes them back to a scrap merchant. A soldier buys the head and gives it to his girlfriend Jill for her to use in her sculpture but it turns out to be a Mark 13 military robot created to control population and when it reawakens it rebuilds itself and tries to kill her. Written off as a Terminator clone this is actually quite a different film and making the most of a low budget the director has created a visually stylish and effective thriller. It bears more than a passing resemblance to an old strip in the comic book 2000 A.D. and it features some gory violence and nudity all accompanied by a high octane rock soundtrack.
