Ju-on: The Grudge

This is a chilling Japanese ghost story about a house which is haunted by the vengeful spirits of a mother and her son. When Rika, a volunteer care worker, is assigned to support the family living in the house she soon discovers there are strange things afoot. The film is broken into chapters and we find out about the various people who have fallen prey to the terrifying ghosts. The plot is somewhat confusing and was simplified for the American remake however it doesn't detract from what is a genuinely scary supernatural film. The direction is excellent, there are eerie sound effects and all kinds of sinister imagery and this is definitely a film that leaves a lasting impression. Probably best watched with company.
