Martin

Released - 1977
Genre - Horror, Drama
Director - George A. Romero
Starring - John Amplas, Lincoln Maazel, Christine Forrest, Elyane Nadeau, Tom Savini

An unhappy young man is compelled to murder and drink the blood of his victims believing himself to be a vampire. He shows none of the traditional mystical signs, he walks around in the daylight, doesn´t mind crosses or garlic and kills with a razorblade. Has he simply been driven mad by his superstitious Catholic family or is he genuinely a creature of the night? This is an interesting film which sees Romero push the boundaries of the vampire genre. It is slow and thoughtful, obviously shot on a low budget and instead of graphic gore this is subtle, grounded in reality and really quite chilling viewing.
