Fresh out of the asylum, Tim is soon drawn back into the madness by his determined sister Kaylie. Or could she be right? Could an antique mirror really be responsible for their parent's death years before? Is it all psychological or is there a supernatural force at work? Most of the elements here are familiar and there aren't many real shocks or twists, the direction and acting are solid not amazing, but the resultant film is more than the sum of its parts. Flanagan builds the tension and vulnerability by flitting between the adult and child versions of Tim and Kaylie as the tale unfolds in the past and present. It has some genuinely unsettling moments and it doesn't compromise.
