This is a twisted masterpiece which could hardly be more bizarre. Beautifully directed by Argento the film is about a young girl, played by Jennifer Connelly, who gets sent to a Swiss boarding school. She has a fascination with insects and makes friends with a disabled entomologist, played by Donald Pleasence. The other kids at the school are less than friendly toward the sleepwalking new girl and to make matters more complicated there is a nasty serial killer in the area who is preying on young girls. The film is slow and atmospheric and shows off Argento's usual skill for finding interesting locations and his penchant for sweeping camera shots. It gathers a real head of speed towards the end and has one of my favourite endings ever. Superbly warped and thoroughly chilling.
