This is a remake of the excellent Spanish film Rec and it stays surprisingly faithful to the original movie. A young reporter and her cameraman are shadowing the fire department in Los Angeles and they get called out to an apartment building. When they arrive a rabid old woman goes crazy and bites a cop in the throat. The building is sealed off and they are trapped inside with a spiralling number of infected people. This is fast-paced, it offers a fresh twist on the genre and it is really quite scary at times, the handheld camera thing works really well in this scenario. Quarantine doesn't really improve on the original but it allows subtitle averse audiences to enjoy the same thrills.

Gore - there is the odd moment of gore and it seems to be well handled

Zombies - fast slavering rabid infected people who want to bite into flesh
