LA experiences more than its usual share of tremors and blackouts on Christmas Eve and the residents of the Ravenwood building find out why. It's because a bunch of cracks in the earth have released some kind of monster race intent on chopping us up and gorging on gooey delights. This engaging, if unoriginal, premise sets us up for a survival horror in a big apartment building. Unfortunately it falls down the same elevator shaft as a lot of b-movie horror by making the entire cast laughably retarded. This is one of those monster movies where you just sit shouting at the screen in frustration as the soon-to-be-chomped-on idiots get themselves killed in predictable ways. The dodgy monster costumes, awful CGI, and amateurish acting could have been bearable with a half-decent script but this kind of blatant stupidity in victims takes all of the fun and tension out of it.
Monster - daft rubber monster suit, big sharp teeth and a scythe style tail
