A film student becomes obsessed with a lost 80's slasher flick called The Hills Run Red. It featured an insane killer with a baby mask who chopped up and slaughtered various people in stunningly realistic looking sequences. He tracks down the daughter of the director and drags his friends into the woods to find the original setting for the film. He finds a lot more than he bargained for. This is a post modern horror which looks to satirise the slasher sub genre and there are two terrific moments in the film that cleverly confound expectation. Unfortunately the film doesn’t keep up the tongue in cheek approach and the brutal violence is let down by some whacky acting and a pretty weak storyline.
