A young woman struggles to come to terms with the death of her, presumably abusive, mother and things get complicated by a supernatural turn in her childhood home. This film proves that you don't need gothic mansions or misty graveyards to create a creepy setting. The director skillfully builds an atmosphere in suburbia, and the innocuous, unremarkable home grows to radiate a real sense of dread. The plot is nothing special, but the story is well told at the perfect pace. It's a welcome attempt to unnerve the audience and horror fans will appreciate the entertaining mix of unbearable tension with the release of a good, sudden scare. Much better than your average haunted house flick.
