Angelic war rages through the centuries but in this film it may be about to end as Simon (Stoltz) is the only angel standing between Gabriel (Walken) and the soul he needs for outright victory. Gabriel is jealous of humanity and, as he seeks to bring about our downfall, an unlikely alliance grows to oppose him. A priest turned cop, a school teacher and Lucifer himself. This dark thriller makes good use of the religious backdrop and thanks to a decent script and a wonderful cast it is compelling viewing. It is a little slow and the budget doesn't allow for the kind of epic confrontation you'd like to see but this is a clever horror film and a very original piece of work.
