The Strangers

After James proposes to his girlfriend Kristen and she knocks him back they retire to a remote holiday home, sadly for James his night gets even worse when the hapless couple are attacked by a trio of mask wearing psychos. This comes from first time writer/director Bryan Bertino and he does a good job with a familiar set-up. The direction is clever, the script is sparse and the tension builds fantastically well in the early part of the movie. It loses it's way a little towards the abrupt ending and falls prey to some typical genre clichés but despite the lack of originality I found this quite entertaining and chilling in places.
