When a bickering couple, David and Amy, take a shortcut their car breaks down and they decide to spend the night at an isolated Bates motel look alike. The place is a dump and worse the phone keeps ringing and someone in the room next to them is banging on their door but when they check there is no-one there. Freaked out David decides to relax and tries one of the unmarked videos next to the television set, it turns out to be a snuff film and he soon figures out it was filmed in the same room they are occupying. Sadly this engrossing set-up leads to a lightweight formulaic thriller which is both dull and predictable.
