Wes Craven re-invents the slasher film once more with the clever, slick and satirical Scream. A psychopathic masked killer hunts a group of teens in suburbia despatching anyone who gets in his way. This is funny and sardonic in tone, gleefully deconstructing the slasher genre, the violence is relatively lightweight and it favours thrills and scares over gore or horror. Scream is a hugely entertaining popcorn movie with a great script and cast which re-invigorated the genre for a new generation spawning two sequels and a number of imitators.

Gore - lots of stabbing and blood and some of the murders are pretty brutal but nothing too extreme, the focus is thrills and scares
