Wes Craven's original was a nasty tale about a family under siege from a leering hillbilly clan. This remake is pretty faithful in terms of plot but the budget is a lot bigger. A family on a cross country trip break down in an area with two major reasons that you'd never want to visit - the US military have been testing nukes here and the hills are full of mutated hillbillies. Cue a horrible massacre with an unlikely hero. There's plenty of gore and the action is decent, although the pace lags at times. If you like hillbilly horror then this is definitely worth watching.
